The Rev. Shalom Agtarap, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Ellensburg, Washington, participates in a vigil outside the U.S. federal court in Yakima, Washington, to express support for people arrested in a January 20 immigration sweep in Ellensburg. The demonstration included dozens of youth, some with relatives who were arrested, who walked out of their high school classes and drove to Yakima to demonstrate outside the court, where hearings on the arrests were taking place. Churches in Ellensburg, a university town east of the Cascade Mountains, formed the nucleus of a local group organized to support the affected families.
